By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans were 8 cents higher, and September Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains took Vince Lombardi's quote, "We didn't lose..., we just ran out of time", to heart overnight. After a closing rally Tuesday afternoon had corn trade higher for a brief moment, and the other grains well off the day's lows, grains in general continued to push higher overnight. Yes, it was modest at best with corn gaining fractions and wheat up a penny, but given the rally in the U.S. dollar index it was still gains. Outside commodities were mixed with energies higher and metals mostly lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 90.74 points lower at 18,313.77, the NASDAQ Composite lost 46.47 points to 5,137.73, and the S&P 500 fell 13.81 points to close at 2,157.09 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 28 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 308.34 points (1.9%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 7.18 points (0.2%). European markets were mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 15.61 points (0.2%), Germany's DAX was 3.57 points higher, and France's CAC 40 fell 13.21 points (0.3%). The U.S. dollar index rallied 0.229 to 95.293. Crude oil rallied $0.40 to $39.91 while Brent crude was $0.41 higher at $42.21. December gold was $2.60 lower at $1,370.00. China's Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher again overnight.
