By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 10 cents higher, and September Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: The July jobs data; nonfarm payrolls, unemployment rate, and average hourly earnings are set for release Friday morning and expected to set the direction for U.S. financial markets. This includes the U.S. dollar index, as the debate over a possible interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve heats up. Overnight trade saw the U.S. dollar index down slightly while gold posted a small gain. Grains were higher, led by a solid double-digit rally in soybeans generated by strong commercial buying interest. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 2.95 points lower at 18,352.05, the NASDAQ Composite gained 6.51 points to 5,166.25, and the S&P 500 rallied 0.46 point to close at 2,164.25 Thursday. DJIA futures gained 33 points overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei down 0.44 point and China's Shanghai Composite off 5.73 points (0.2%). European markets were also mixed with London's FTSE 100 up 16.77 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX rallied 16.32 points (0.2%), and France's CAC 40 gained 21.95 points (0.5%). The U.S. dollar index slipped 0.138 to 95.620. Crude oil fell $0.37 to $41.56 while Brent crude was $0.42 lower at $43.87. December gold was $1.00 higher at $1,368.40. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
