DTN Early Word Grains 08/22 05:58 It's Beans Against the World Early Monday December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 2 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 2 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: After starting Sunday's overnight session lower, soybeans were able to rally through early Monday morning. Support came from the stronger Chinese Dalian market though buying interest was limited by the continued rally of the U.S. dollar index. The latter had most of the rest of the commodity under pressure. Corn and wheat were near session lows while crude oil and gold both posted sharp losses. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 45.13 points lower at 18,552.57, the NASDAQ Composite lost 1.77 points to 5,238.38, and the S&P 500 fell 3.15 points to close at 2,183.87 Friday. DJIA futures were 27 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei up 52.37 points (0.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite lost 23.30 points (0.7%). European markets were mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 down 21.19 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX gained 25.28 points (0.2%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 9.96 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.240 higher to 94.751. Crude oil fell $1.21 to $47.31 while Brent crude was $1.43 lower at $49.45. December gold was $6.80 lower at $1,339.40. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
