DTN Closing Livestock Comment 08/24 15:10 Livestock Futures Close Mostly Lower Wednesday Live cattle futures closed 52 to 122 lower on Wednesday. Feeder cattle contracts were 92 to 137 lower, except spot August was 20 higher. Lean hog futures closed 15 to 87 lower, except next August was 40 higher. By Rick Kment DTN Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: A light to moderate cash cattle trade has developed in parts of the South and light business is reported in parts of the North. Southern live deals are at $115, $3 lower than last week. Northern dressed deals are at $181-$182, $5 to $6 lower than last week's weight average basis Nebraska. According to the closing report, the national hog base is $0.55 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($55.00-$62.19, weighted average $62.19). Corn futures closed lower, down 1 cent in the September and December contracts.
