DTN Early Word Grains 08/25 05:57 Bean Dip for Breakfast December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 7 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 7 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Soybeans dipped lower again overnight while corn was quiet and wheat posted small gains. Outside commodities were also mixed as crude oil tried to regain some of Wednesday's loss and gold continued to slide. The U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were under pressure as financial markets in general wait for Chairwoman Yellen's speech from Jackson Hole, Wyoming Friday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 65.82 points lower at 18,481.48, the NASDAQ Composite lost 42.39 points to 5,217.69, and the S&P 500 fell 11.46 points to close at 2,175.44 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 23 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 41.35 points (0.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite lost 17.55 points (0.6%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 19.82 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX lost 84.67 points (0.8%), and France's CAC 40 fell 28.31 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.166 lower to 94.619. Crude oil rallied $0.10 to $46.87 while Brent crude was $0.09 higher at $49.14. December gold was $3.00 lower at $1,326.70. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower overnight.
