DTN Early Word Grains 08/29 06:03 Grains Fall Again Overnight December corn was fractionally lower, November soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was fractionally lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 6 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Soybeans were unable to hold an early rally, trading near overnight session lows early Monday morning. Corn did little, with the December contract posting a 3-cent trading range. Wheat contracts came under increased pressure as the session progressed, falling almost a 10 overnight. Outside markets were also lower with selling seen in energies, metals, and softs. The U.S. dollar index was posting a small gain while DJIA futures were quietly lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 53.01 points lower at 18,395.40, the NASDAQ Composite gained 6.72 points to 5,218.92, and the S&P 500 fell 3.43 points to close at 2,169.04 Friday. DJIA futures were 10 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 376.78 points (2.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite lost 0.28 points. European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 up 21.15 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX down 83.75 points (0.8%), and France's CAC 40 off 45.48 points (1.0%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.059 higher at 95.625. Crude oil fell $0.70 to $46.94 while Brent crude was $0.77 lower at $49.15. December gold was $3.50 lower at $1,322.40. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher and Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
