DTN Early Word Grains 09/02 05:56 Not a Down Day This Fall December corn was 3 cents higher, November soybeans were 4 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents higher, November soybeans were 4 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were higher overnight led by follow-through buying in corn. Soybeans were also showing gains, though Thursday's back and forth session has traders less than confident over the market's ability to hold. The wheat complex was also higher, buoyed by spillover buying from the other Chicago markets. All this despite a continued rally in the U.S. dollar index. Energies gained back some of Thursday's sell-off while metals remain under pressure. DJJIA futures were also higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 18.42 points higher at 18,419.30, the NASDAQ Composite gained 13.99 points to 5,227.21, and the S&P 500 fell 0.09 points to close at 2,170.86 Friday. DJIA futures were 15 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei down 1.16 points while China's Shanghai Composite gained 4.05 points (0.1%). European markets were also mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 up 57.83 points (0.8%), Germany's DAX gained 21.03 points (0.2%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 40.61 points (0.9%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.137 higher at 95.790. Crude oil was up $0.41 to $43.57 while Brent crude gained $0.47 to $45.92. December gold was $1.50 lower at $1,315.60. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
