DTN Early Word Grains 09/06 06:00 Grains Start the Week Under Pressure December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were lower early Tuesday as soybeans failed to hold an early rally. Most contracts of corn, wheat, and soybeans were near overnight session lows while outside markets were mostly higher. Metals were showing a solid rally, while most energy markets were posting gains. The U.S. dollar index was lower while DJIA futures were higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 72.66 points higher at 18,491.96, the NASDAQ Composite gained 22.69 points to 5,249.90, and the S&P 500 rallied 9.12 points to close at 2,179.98 Friday. DJIA futures were 17 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 44.35 points (0.2%) while China's Shanghai Composite gained 18.62 points (0.6%). European markets were also mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 down 11.87 points (0.2%), Germany's DAX gained 36.46 point (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 8.37 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.264 lower at 95.580. Crude oil was up $0.51 to $44.96 while Brent crude lost $0.30 to $47.33. December gold was $9.50 higher at $1,336.20. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower overnight.
