DTN Early Word Grains 09/13 05:56 Grains Look to Extend New Losing Streak December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were under pressure early Tuesday, though it should be noted that the overnight session saw all three Chicago markets trade higher at one point. Corn rallied as much as 2 cents while soybeans gained back almost 7 cents before turning down again. Commodities in general were under pressure, due in part to renewed strength in the U.S. dollar index. The exception was the metals complex were gold, silver, and copper were all showing gains. DJIA futures were showing a sharp sell-off, hinting at the big board erasing some of Monday's rally. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 239.62 points (1.3%) higher at 18,325.07, the NASDAQ Composite gained 85.98 points (1.7%) to 5,211.89, and the S&P 500 rallied 31.23 points (1.5%) to close at 2,159.04 Monday. DJIA futures were 118 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower though Japan's Nikkei gained 56.12 points (0.3%) and China's Shanghai Composite added 1.53 points. European markets were mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 down 4.61 points, Germany's DAX up 26.62 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 0.48 point. The U.S. dollar index was 0.220 higher at 95.315. Crude oil was down $1.07 to $45.22 while Brent crude fell $0.93 to $47.39. December gold was $6.60 higher at $1,332.20. China's Dalian soybean futures were quietly higher again while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
