DTN Early Word Grains 09/15 05:58 Grains Green Early Thursday December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grain contracts were showing small gains early Thursday morning after another quiet overnight session. Outside commodities were mixed with energies and mostly higher, metals lower, and softs also mostly higher with cotton continuing to come under pressure. The U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were both higher ahead of a busy day for economic reports that could set the tone for next week's Federal Reserve meeting. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 31.98 points (0.2%) lower at 18,034.77, the NASDAQ Composite gained 18.52 points (0.4%) to 5,173.77, and the S&P 500 fell 1.25 points to close at 2,125.77 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 60 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei down 209.23 points (1.3%). European markets were also mixed with London's FTSE 100 up 7.61 points (0.1%), Germany's DAX gaining 22.99 points (0.2), and France's CAC 40 off 2.10 points. The U.S. dollar index was 0.058 higher at 95.385. Crude oil rallied $0.42 to $44.00 while Brent crude gained $0.52 to $46.37. December gold was $1.50 lower at $1,324.60. China's Dalian soybean futures were closed while Malaysian palm oil futures traded higher overnight.
