By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Friday, September 30 marks the end of the week, the end of the month, and the end of the quarter. Often this can lead to wild markets as traders position themselves accordingly. Throw in a grains Quarterly Stocks report and things can get even more interesting. As would be expected, overnight trade was relatively light with all three grains showing small losses early Friday. Outside markets were mostly lower, led by the energy complex, as the U.S. dollar index rallied. DJIA futures were also under pressure. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 195.79 points (1.1%) lower at 18,143.45, the NASDAQ Composite lost 49.39 points (0.9%) to 5,269.15, and the S&P 500 fell 20.24 points (0.9%) to close at 2,151.13 Thursday. DJIA futures were 40 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 243.87 points (1.5%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 6.22 points (0.2%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 67.03 points (1.0%), Germany's DAX off 109.22 points (1.0%), and France's CAC 40 losing 59.03 points (1.3%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.225 higher at 95.760. Crude oil slipped $0.56 to $47.27 while Brent crude lost $0.81 to $48.43. December gold was $3.50 higher at $1,329.50. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher again overnight.
