DTN Early Word Grains 10/06 05:57 Wheat Just Won't Be Denied December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: The wheat complex extended Wednesday's rally overnight, shrugging off potential pressure from a stronger U.S. dollar index. Corn and soybeans, as well as much of the rest of the commodity complex, were lower. DJIA futures were also showing a loss early Thursday, pressured by lower European markets. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 112.58 points (0.6%) higher at 18,281.03, the NASDAQ Composite gained 26.36 points (0.5%) to 5,316.02, and the S&P 500 rallied 9.24 points (0.4%) to close at 2,159.73 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 34 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 79.86 points (0.5%). European markets were mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 25.46 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX off 37.79 points (0.4%), and France's CAC 40 fell 17.34 points (0.4%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.205 higher at 96.330. Crude oil slipped $0.03 to $49.80 while Brent crude added $0.06 to $51.92. December gold was unchanged at $1,268.60. China's Dalian soybean futures remained closed for holiday while Malaysian palm oil futures were mostly higher overnight.
