By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 3 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. CME Globex Recap: Global markets didn't show their hands, for the most part, as to who may have won the third U.S. presidential debate Wednesday night. However, the Mexican peso extended its recent strong rally overnight into Thursday morning. In the past this has been read to imply that Clinton came out ahead of Trump. Gold was quietly higher, while crude oil gave back some of the previous day's sharp rally. Grains were mostly higher, continuing to build bullish momentum despite a small gain by the U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 40.68 points (0.2%) higher at 18,202.62, the NASDAQ Composite gained 2.58 points to 5,246.41, and the S&P 500 rallied 4.69 points (0.2%) to close at 2,144.29 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 33 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 236.59 points (1.4%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng rallied 69.43 points (0.3%), and China's Shanghai composite slipped 0.26 point. European markets were also mostly higher in early trade Thursday with London's FTSE 100 down 2.93 points, Germany's DAX gaining 27.71 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 added 9.82 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.024 higher at 97.944. Crude oil slipped $0.47 to $51.13 while Brent crude lost $0.47 to $52.20. December gold was $0.60 higher at $1,270.50. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were mostly lower overnight.
