DTN Early Word Grains 10/24 05:58 Beans Not All Bark, Show Some Bite December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans were 15 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans were 15 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. CME Globex Recap: After a lower start to Sunday's overnight session, soybeans powered to a double-digit rally by early Monday morning, pulling corn and wheat with it. Outside markets were quiet with the U.S. dollar index, crude oil, and gold all posting small losses. On the other hand DJIA futures were showing solid gains on spillover buying from overseas equities. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 16.64 points (0.1%) lower at 18,145.71, the NASDAQ Composite gained 15.57 points (0.3%) to 5,257.40, and the S&P 500 dipped 0.18 point to close at 2,141.16 Friday. DJIA futures were 80 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 49.83 points (0.3%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was 229.68 points (1.0%) higher, and China's Shanghai Composite gained 37.31 points (1.2%). European markets were also mostly higher Monday with London's FTSE 100 up 2.25 points, Germany's DAX gaining 93.57 points (0.9%), and France's CAC 40 up 37.22 points (0.8%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.096 lower at 98.599. Crude oil dipped $0.04 to $50.82 while Brent crude gained $0.01 to $51.79. December gold was $1.40 lower at $1,266.30. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher overnight.
