DTN Early Word Grains 10/25 06:01 Malaise in Beans December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans were 3 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was fractionally higher, November soybeans were 3 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was fractionally higher. CME Globex Recap: Malaysian palm oil erased most of the previous session's rally overnight, putting pressure on the Chicago soybean complex. Corn held near unchanged following a quietly traded session, while wheat contracts were showing small losses. Outside markets were mostly higher with both energies and metals rallying as softs were mostly higher (sugar was the outlier, trading lower). The U.S. dollar index was quiet overnight while DJIA futures continued to trade higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 77.32 points (0.4%) higher at 18,223.03, the NASDAQ Composite gained 52.42 points (1.0%) to 5,309.83, and the S&P 500 rallied 10.17 points (0.5%) to close at 2,151.33 Monday. DJIA futures were 27 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 130.83 points (0.8%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was off 38.97 points (0.2%), and China's Shanghai Composite added 3.69 points (0.1%). European markets were also mixed Tuesday with London's FTSE 100 up 24.40 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX gaining 29.79 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 up 2.54 points. The U.S. dollar index was 0.046 lower at 98.710. Crude oil gained $0.33 to $50.85 while Brent crude rallied $0.21 to $51.67. December gold was $4.90 higher at $1,268.60. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
