DTN Early Word Grains 10/27 06:05 Grain Kept a Rollin' December corn was 4 cents higher, November soybeans were 7 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 4 cents higher, November soybeans were 7 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: November soybeans were trading near its overnight session high as the train that is the grain complex kept rollin' all night long. Corn and wheat also posted solid gains for a change. Energies and metals were higher as the U.S. dollar index dipped down again. DJIA futures remained under pressure, hinting at a possible lower open. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 30.06 points (0.2%) higher at 18,199.33, the NASDAQ Composite lost 33.13 points (0.6%) to 5,250.27, and the S&P 500 fell 3.73 points (0.2%) to close at 2,139.43 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 10 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 55.42 points (0.3%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 193.08 points (0.8%), and China's Shanghai Composite lost 3.96 points (0.1%). European markets were lower Thursday with London's FTSE 100 down 15.37 points (0.2%), Germany's DAX losing 28.48 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 off 26.63 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.055 lower at 98.574. Crude oil rallied $0.17 to $49.35 while Brent crude gained $0.30 to $50.28. December gold was $4.30 higher at $1,270.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were sharply higher, likely following Wednesday's Chicago market, while Malaysian palm oil futures posted small losses overnight.
