DTN Early Word Grains 11/02 06:00 A Mixed Market Morning December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 2 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mixed overnight with wheat showing a small gain, corn near unchanged, and soybeans continuing Tuesday's sell-off. Outside markets were mostly lower; gold and silver the outliers. The U.S. dollar index was under pressure again, as were DJIA futures, as global financial markets continue to monitor the tightening U.S. presidential race. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 105.32 points (0.6%) lower at 18,037.10, the NASDAQ Composite lost 35.56 points (0.7%) to 5,153.58, and the S&P 500 fell 14.43 points to close at 2,111.72 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 42 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower with Japan's Nikkei down 307.72 points (1.8%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index lost 336.57 points (1.5%), and China's Shanghai Composite fell 19.70 points (0.6%). European markets were also lower Wednesday with London's FTSE 100 down 25.67 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX losing 78.15 points (0.7%), and France's CAC 40 off 27.75 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.163 lower at 97.536. Crude oil slipped $0.68 to $45.99 while Brent crude lost $0.67 to $47.47. December gold was $9.50 higher at $1,297.50. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
