DTN Early Word Grains 11/14 05:55 Grains Get Supermooned Overnight December corn was 3 cents lower, January soybeans were 10 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents lower, January soybeans were 10 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grain markets were lower overnight, led by a strong sell-off in soybeans. Some of this was due to spillover pressure from Malaysian palm oil, while grains in general were hit by the continued strong rally in the U.S. dollar index. Energies and gold were also showing small losses while DJIA futures were higher again. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 39.78 points (0.2%) higher at 18,847.66. The NASDAQ Composite gained 28.32 points (0.5%) to 5,237.11, and the S&P 500 dipped 3.03 points (0.1%) to close at 2,164.45 Friday. DJIA futures were 72 points higher Monday morning. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 297.83 points (1.7%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 308.87 points (1.4%), and China's Shanghai Composite gained 14.33 points (0.5%). European markets were mostly higher Monday with London's FTSE 100 up 60.29 points (0.9%), Germany's DAX gained 69.94 points (0.7%), and France's CAC 40 gaining 39.03 points (0.9%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.707 higher at 99.767. Crude oil lost $0.28 to $43.13 while Brent crude lost $0.20 to $44.55. December gold was unchanged at $1,224.30. China's Dalian soybean futures market was closed while Malaysian palm oil futures posted strong losses overnight.
