DTN Early Word Grains 11/21 05:58 Going Long In a Short Week December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 9 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was unchanged, January soybeans were 9 cents higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains found renewed buying interest heading into a holiday shortened week, led by a double-digit rally in soybeans. Outside commodities were also higher with energies, metals, and softs all showing gains. Much of the party in the commodity sector came from light selling in the U.S. dollar index as the greenback turned a 0.200 gain into a 0.330 point loss overnight. DJIA futures were quietly higher as well. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 35.89 points (0.2%) lower at 18,867.93. The NASDAQ Composite lost 12.46 points (0.2%) to 5,321.51, and the S&P 500 fell 5.22 points (0.2%) to close at 2,181.90 Friday. DJIA futures were 7 points higher Monday morning. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 138.61 points (0.8%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 13.57 points, and China's Shanghai Composite added 25.29 points (0.8%). European markets were mostly higher Monday with London's FTSE 100 up 25.99 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX gained 26.12 points (0.2%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 18.17 points (0.4%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.100 lower at 101.110. Crude oil gained $0.73 to $46.42 while Brent crude added $0.81 to $47.67. December gold was $5.70 higher at $1,214.40. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher overnight.
