DTN Early Word Grains 11/23 05:56 Red Beans and Rice December corn was 3 cents lower, January soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 3 cents lower, January soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 5 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Yes, the soybean complex was in the red early Wednesday morning despite higher trade in both Dalian soybeans and Malaysian palm oil. Oh, and rice was lower too. As for the other grains, light spillover pressure from soybeans had both corn and wheat looking up at unchanged for much of the overnight session. Metals and energies were mixed while softs were generally - well - softer. The U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were unchanged to slightly lower as well while awaiting the release of a large set of economic numbers Wednesday, including weekly jobless claims and the latest FOMC minutes. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 67.18 points (0.4%) higher at 19,023.87. The NASDAQ Composite gained 17.49 points (0.3%) to 5,386.35, and the S&P 500 added 4.76 points (0.2%) to close at 2,202.94 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 1 point higher Wednesday morning. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei closed, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index down 1.38 points, and China's Shanghai Composite of 7.22 points (0.2%). European markets were mostly lower Wednesday with London's FTSE 100 up 34.50 points (0.5%), Germany's DAX down 60.93 points (0.6%), and France's CAC 40 off 19.91 points (0.4%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.040 lower at 101.000. Crude oil added $0.17 to $48.20 while Brent crude rallied $0.18 to $49.30. December gold was $1.00 higher at $1,212.20. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher again overnight.
