Exporters were posting mostly flat carries in all markets, with logistics focused on moving barges toward Portland ahead of an extended river closure beginning in early December. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a slowed pace of loading over the holiday-shortened week, with total U.S. wheat shipments coming in at 8 mb; about half the prior week's total. Year-to-date shipments stand at 481 mb and 27% ahead of last year. Hard red spring was the top shipper with 4.8 mb, followed by hard red winter with 2.2 mb and white wheat with 1.9 mb. Top destination off the west coast was the Philippines. Crop Progress...Further improvement in the Oregon winter wheat crop put a lift into the three-state winter wheat index, bumping the rating a point to 403 out of a 500 point scale. The overall Pacific Northwest wheat crop is heading into winter rated at the best level in over a decade. -Norm Ruhoff Extension Economist University of Idaho CALS-AERS Copyright 2016 DTN/Telvent.
