By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 5 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 4 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: If indeed it is time for the U.S. Federal Reserve to announce an interest rate hike at the conclusion of its 2-day meeting Wednesday afternoon, overnight markets didn't reflect it. The U.S. dollar index was down while gold was up. On the other hand, DJIA futures were lower after the Big Board came up just short of 20,000 Tuesday. Grains were lower across the board, once again led by soybeans. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 114.78 points (0.6%) higher at 19,911.21. The NASDAQ Composite gained 51.29 points (1.0) to 5,463.83, and the S&P 500 rallied 14.76 points (0.7%) to close at 2,271.72 Tuesday. DJIA futures were 14 points lower Wednesday morning. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei up 3.09 points, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 9.92 points, while China's Shanghai Composite slipped 14.51 points (0.5%). European markets were lower Wednesday with London's FTSE 100 off 8.92 points (0.1%), Germany's DAX down 29.84 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 falling 31.76 points (0.7%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.130 lower at 100.940. Crude oil fell $0.72 to $52.26 while Brent crude was off $0.68 to $55.04. December gold was $4.90 higher at $1,163.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
