By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 4 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Christmas week started off with lower trade in the Chicago oilseed complex following weekend rains in Argentina. However, by early Monday morning the market was showing only a small loss so thoughts of a dramatic turn in weather fortunes there may have been over-exaggerated. Elsewhere, most outside markets were quiet, including the U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 8.83 points lower at 19,843.41. The NASDAQ Composite lost 19.69 points (0.4%) to 5,437.16, and the S&P 500 fell 3.96 points (0.2%) to close at 2,258.07 Friday. DJIA futures were 34 points higher Monday morning. Asian markets were lower with Japan's Nikkei down 9.55 points, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index off 188.07 points (0.9%), and China's Shanghai Composite fell 4.90 points (0.2%). European markets were mixed Monday with London's FTSE 100 down 14.88 points (0.2%), Germany's DAX up 10.12 points (0.1%), and France's CAC 40 losing 10.82 points (0.2%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.110 lower at 102.840. March 30-year T-Bonds were up 6/32 at 147'27 while December gold rallied $3.30 to $1,140.70. Crude oil gained $0.34 to $52.24 while Brent crude added $0.32 to $55.53. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
