DTN Early Word Grains 12/20 05:58 On the Second Day of Christmas... March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 9 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn was 1 cent lower, January soybeans were 9 cents lower, and March Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Christmas week is humming along now, with continued pressure seen in the Chicago soybean complex overnight. This weighed on the other grains, erasing what had been early gains in both corn and wheat. Outside markets were mixed with the stronger U.S. dollar index putting pressure on gold and 30-year T-Bonds. Meanwhile, DJIA futures were higher again. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 39.65 points higher at 19,883.06. The NASDAQ Composite gained 20.28 points (0.4%) to 5,457.44 and the S&P 500 added 4.46 points (0.2%) to close at 2,262.53 Monday. DJIA futures were 21 points higher Tuesday morning. Asian markets were mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 102.93 points (0.5%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index off 103.62 points (0.5%), and China's Shanghai Composite fell 66.72 points (0.3%). European markets were also mixed Tuesday with London's FTSE 100 down 0.59 point, Germany's DAX up 1.65 points, and France's CAC 40 gaining 13.10 points (0.3%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.290 higher at 103.420. March 30-year T-Bonds were down 14/32 at 148'16 while December gold fell $7.40 to $1,135.30. Crude oil gained $0.23 to $52.35 while Brent crude added $0.52 to $55.44. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower overnight.
