DTN Early Word Grains 03/06 06:08 Back For Another Round May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 4 cents higher, and July Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was fractionally higher, May soybeans were 4 cents higher, and July Chicago wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were showing gains across the board overnight into Monday morning, led by winter wheat. Outside commodities were mixed with metals mostly higher, energies lower and softs mixed. The U.S. dollar index was near unchanged, waiting for this week's two-day meeting of the Federal Reserve when an expected interest rate increase is expected to be announced. DJIA futures were under pressure overnight. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 2.74 points higher at 21,005.71. The Nasdaq Composite gained 9.53 points (0.2%) to 5,870.75 and the S&P 500 added 1.20 points to 2,383.12 Friday. DJIA futures were 27 points lower early Monday morning. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei down 90.03 points (0.5%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 43.56 points (0.2%), and China's Shanghai Composite rallied 15.55 points (0.5%). European markets were lower Monday with London's FTSE 100 off 26.47 points (0.4%), Germany's DAX down 60.83 points (0.5%), and France's CAC 40 losing 24.15 points (0.5%). The euro was 0.0037 lower at 1.0585 while the U.S. dollar index gained 0.05 to 101.59. June 30-year T-Bonds were 13/32 higher at 149'21 while April gold gained $5.00 to $1,231.50. Crude oil dipped $0.33 to $53.00 while Brent crude was off $0.35 to $55.55. Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
