DTN Early Word Grains 06/06 05:58 Remembering D-Day July corn was fractionally lower, July soybeans were 2 cents higher, and July Kansas City (HRW) wheat was 5 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was fractionally lower, July soybeans were 2 cents higher, and July Kansas City (HRW) wheat was 5 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mostly higher early Tuesday, D-Day plus 73 years, morning. Soybeans and wheat led the way higher while corn did what corn normally does overnight - very little. Minneapolis spring wheat continues to rocket higher on strong buying with old-crop July gaining 6 cents. Other commodities (energies, metals, and softs) were also mostly higher with gold threatening double-digit gains. Both the U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures were under pressure. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 22.25 points (0.1%) lower at 21,184.04, the NASDAQ Composite dipped 10.11 points (0.2%) to 6,295.68, and the S&P 500 slipped 2.977 points (0.1%) to 2,436.10 Monday. DJIA futures were 26 points lower early Tuesday morning. Asian markets closed mixed with Japan's Nikkei down 190.92 points (1.0%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng gaining 134.15 points (0.5%), and China's Shanghai Composite up 10.47 points (0.3%). European markets were trading lower with London's FTSE 100 down 2.47 points, Germany's DAX off 61.99 points (0.5%), and France's CAC 40 losing 13.75 points (0.3%). The euro was 0.0008 lower at 1.1248 while the U.S. dollar index was 0.06 lower at 96.74. September 30-year T-Bonds were 15/32 higher at 154'26 while August gold gained $9.40 to $1,292.10. Crude oil was $0.03 higher at $47.43 while Brent crude added $0.06 to $49.53. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were mixed again overnight.
