DTN Early Word Grains 09/04 05:59 Choppy Row Crops, Lower Wheat to Start September December corn was up 3/4, November soybeans were down 1/2, and December K.C. wheat was down 14 1/2. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was up 3/4, November soybeans were down 1/2, and December K.C. wheat was down 14 1/2. CME Globex Recap: A stronger USD Index and a sharply higher crude oil market are the outside market features this morning. WTI crude oil is trading at the highest level since mid-July and Brent crude looks poised to test the $80.00/bbl mark. More chop from row crops while wheat trades sharply lower as funds remain long and out of position. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 22.10 points at 25,964.82 and the S&P 500 up 0.39 points at 2,901.52 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 2.875%. Early Tuesday, DJIA futures were up 1.25. Asian markets are mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 10.48 (-0.05%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 29.85 (1.10%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 16.05 points (-0.21%), Germany's DAX down 96.36 points (-0.78%), and France's CAC 40 down 57.71 points (-1.07%). The euro was down 0.00415 at 1.15675 and the U.S. dollar index was up 0.4600 at 95.6010. September 30-year T-Bonds were down 15/32nds while December gold was down $6.30 at $1200.40 and October crude oil was up $1.47 at $71.01. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange closed up 0.80%.
