Overall trade volume across the PNW remains light as farmer interest has waned at current price levels. Crop Progress..USDA reports 27% of the spring wheat crop remains to be harvested for Idaho, which is running about 10% behind average due to the late plantings. Washington spring harvest is approaching the 90% complete mark. Continued seasonably warm and dry conditions are allowing progress on chickpea harvest through eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed another relatively solid week of loadings for hard red spring and soft white, while hard red winter shipments continue to lag. Total shipments of 14.4 mb for the week puts the year-to-date total at 192 mb and 33% behind a year ago. Spring wheat was top shipper for the week with 4.4 mb, followed by soft white with 3.8 mb and hard red winter at 3.2 mb. Top destination off the west coast was the Philippines with 2.4 mb, with Indonesia and Yemen each taking 1.4 mb of white wheat. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2018 DTN/Telvent.
