DTN Early Word Grains 09/28 05:51 Grains Mixed, Quiet Ahead of USDA Report December corn was up 1/4 cent, November soybeans were up 2 cents, and December K.C. wheat was down 1/2 cent. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are softer Friday as Italian bonds sell off hard with Rome agreeing to a more aggressive deficit-spending budget. It has been a few weeks since we were worried about European contagion, so markets are probably due. Energy markets are consolidating near recent highs. Grain markets are biding time until the USDA quarterly Grain Stocks report at 11 a.m. CDT. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 54.65 points at 26,439.93 and the S&P 500 up 8.03 points at 2,914.00 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 3.056%. Early Friday, DJIA futures were down 25.00. Asian markets were higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 323.30 points (1.36%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 29.58 (1.06%). European markets are mostly lower with London's FTSE 100 down 6.36 points (-0.08%), Germany's DAX down 83.46 points (-0.67%), and France's CAC 40 down 16.84 points (-0.30%). The euro was down 0.00630 at 1.16675 and the U.S. dollar index was up 0.2120 at 95.2010. September 30-year T-Bonds were up 8/32nds while December gold was down $0.20 at $1187.20 and November crude oil was up $0.06 at $72.18. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange closed unchanged while meal was up 1.24%.
