DTN Early Word Grains 10/01 06:15 New NAFTA Supports Grains Overnight December corn was up 2 cents, November soybeans were down 1/4 cent, and December K.C. wheat was up 3/4 cent. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was up 2 cents, November soybeans were down 1/4 cent, and December K.C. wheat was up 3/4 cent. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are sharply better around the globe Monday as traders take relief in a new North American Free Trade Agreement being signed this week. This feels like the first positive trade news in months and hopefully helps set the table for negotiations with the U.S. and China. Crude oil made fresh 2-1/2 month highs Friday and is firmer Monday morning. Grains are bouncing back from Friday's losses while the soy complex remains weak on the threat of higher supplies and weaker demand. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 18.38 points at 26,458.31 and the S&P 500 down -0.02 points at 2,913.98 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 3.069%. Early Monday, DJIA futures were up 200.00. Asian markets were higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 125.72 points (0.52%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 10.02 points (0.03%), Germany's DAX up 86.25 points (0.70%), and France's CAC 40 up 19.10points (0.35%). The euro was down 0.00010 at 1.16805 and the U.S. dollar index was down 0.0330 at 95.1010. September 30-year T-Bonds were down 22/32nds while December gold was down $6.90 at $1189.30 and November crude oil was up $0.14 at $73.39. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are closed for holiday.
