The bid structure also shows prices flat through December for both winter and spring protein wheat markets as exporters look for nearby ownership. Crop Progress...USDA reported only modest progress for Washington state winter wheat plantings last week, as growers wait for additional moisture. That state stands 69% planted versus a 66% average, Idaho is 53% in versus 51% and Oregon is 32% planted compared to a 26% average pace. Emergence is on track with average for Idaho and Oregon, with Washington setting behind average by 8% at 34%. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a slower pace of shipments for U.S. wheat last week, coming in at 13.5 mb to put current year loadings at 254 mb and 30% behind a year ago. Top shipper this week was red spring wheat with 3.4 mb, followed closely by hard red winter at 3.3 mb and white wheat at 1.2 mb. Top destination off west coast ports was the Philippines with 4.1 mb, followed by Thailand at 2 mb and Iraq with 1.9 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2018 DTN/Telvent.
