DTN Early Word Grains 12/31 06:02 Grain Markets Mostly Higher as We Tie a Bow on 2018 March corn is up 1/4 cents, January soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and March KC wheat is down 3 1/2 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn is up 1/4 cents, January soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and March KC wheat is down 3 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Many equity markets around the globe are already closed for New Year's celebrations, although U.S. markets look poised for a stronger open and close. The U.S. dollar index is softer for the third session in a row while energy markets continue to try and build a base just above recent lows. Grain markets are mixed to stronger on the last session of 2018. Ag markets will enjoy a full session Monday, re-opening Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. CST. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 76.42 at 23,062.40 and the S&P 500 down 3.09 at 2,485.74 while the 10-yr Treasury yield ended at 2.716%. Early Monday, DJIA futures are up 209.00. Asian markets were closed. European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 5.47 points (0.08%), Germany's DAX up 177.45 points (1.71%), and France's CAC 40 up 44.57 points (0.95%). The euro was up 0.00210 at 1.14750 and the U.S. dollar index was down 0.2100 at 96.1780. December 30-year T-Bonds were down 1/32nds while February gold was up $3.30 at $1286.30 and February crude oil was up $0.50 at $45.83. China's Dalian Exchange was closed.
