DTN Early Word Grains 01/03 05:54 Grain Trade Mixed as South American Weather, Jan WASDE in Focus March corn is down 1/2 cents, March soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 1 1/4 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn is down 1/2 cents, March soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, and March KC Wheat up 1 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equities under pressure again Thursday as the U.S. government impasse continues. Media outlets are reporting Friday is the next scheduled meeting between Democrats and President Trump but the two sides seem to have plenty left to resolve. The USDA announced Wednesday it would decide Friday whether to delay crop reports planned for release on Jan. 11. According to USDA Chief Economist Robert Johansson, there is still time to get them done if funding is restored but past Friday becomes untenable. Grain markets are mixed as cash and weather drive trade. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 18.78 at 23,346.24 and the S&P 500 up 3.18 at 2,510.03 while the 10-yr Treasury yield ended at 2.633%. Early Thursday, DJIA futures are down 353.00. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 closed and China's Shanghai Composite down 0.93 points (-0.04%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 28.75 points (-0.43%), Germany's DAX down 121.16 points (-1.01%), and France's CAC 40 down 45.82 points (-0.98%). The euro was up 0.00265 at 1.13805 and the U.S. dollar index was down 0.1120 at 96.5510. December 30-year T-Bonds were up 15/32nds while February gold was up $5.80 at $1290.10 and February crude oil was down $0.64 at $45.90. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange closed up 0.15% while soymeal closed up 0.18%.
