DTN Early Word Grains 01/08 05:47 Grains Higher on Export Optimism, Tech Buying March corn up 1 cent, March soybeans up 1/2 cent, and March KC Wheat up 2 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn up 1 cent, March soybeans up 1/2 cent, and March KC Wheat up 2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Stocks around the globe are mostly higher this morning, buoyed by optimism toward the latest round of U.S.-China trade negotiations. No one expects a final deal to come out of this round of talks, but small steps here are expected to help produce a deal in future discussions. Crude oil is higher and working on its seventh consecutive higher close. Grains are higher on trade talk optimism and a fair amount of export business around this week. Traders are getting used to the lack of information out of the USDA, but that doesn't mean anyone is happy about it. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 98.16 at 23,531.35 and the S&P 500 up 17.75 at 2,549.69 while the 10-yr Treasury yield ended at 2.694%. Early Tuesday, DJIA futures are up 122.00 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 165.07 (0.82%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 6.63 points (-0.26%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 38.15 points (0.56%), Germany's DAX up 17.83 points (0.17%), and France's CAC 40 up 25.70 points (0.54%). The euro was down 0.00265 at 1.14590 and the U.S. dollar index was up 0.2420 at 95.9000. December 30-year T-Bonds were down 8/32nds while February gold was down $6.20 at $1283.70 and February crude oil was up $0.57 at $49.08. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange closed up 0.15% while soymeal closed down 0.37%.
