DTN Closing Livestock Comment 10/02 16:23 Mixed Wednesday Close Cattle contracts yielded moderate gains with very few open-interest contracts, while the corn complex gave up most of Tuesday's rally and lean hog contracts closed mixed. By ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Wednesday morning trade was back and forth, but as the noon hour approached, cattle contracts took the lead and closed the day with moderate gains in both nearby and deferred contracts. Hog prices are up $0.66 on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, with a weighted average of $50.13. December corn was down 4 3/4 cents per bushel, and December soybean meal was down $3.40. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 486 points and the NASDAQ was down 122 points.
