DTN Closing Livestock Comment 10/04 16:08 Livestock Contracts Close Mostly Lower Livestock markets closed lower Friday afternoon even though positive cash trade was seen throughout the countryside Friday morning By ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Most would agree that Friday's close comes as a sigh of relief, as this week's market has been a struggle and it's nice to have it behind us. As crazy as it may sound, even a $5.00 cash cattle rally wasn't enough to take most live cattle contracts into a positive close. Up, then down, down and down again went this week's market. Unable to rally on various points, the livestock sector closed lower. Hog prices are down $0.81 on the National Direct Friday Afternoon Hog Report, with a weighted average of $49.19. December corn is down 4 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is up $0.80. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 360.08 points and NASDAQ is up 106.34 points.
