DTN Closing Livestock Comment 11/01 16:11 Beef Demand Inspires the Market to Keep Closing Higher Friday's close came with significant gains for the live cattle and feeder cattle markets, and despite lean hogs' effort to try to push prices higher Wednesday and Thursday, prices closed lower on Friday. By ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: It's been a productive week for cattle markets and a depressing market for lean hog producers once again. Prices are lower on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, down $0.10 with a weighted average of $48.95. December corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel and December soybean meal is down $0.50. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 280.31 points and NASDAQ is up 87.09 points.
