DTN Closing Livestock Comment 08/31 16:55 Livestock Markets Secure Modest Gains Monday Livestock contracts were able to rally Monday and sneak into the closing hour with slight gains. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Following Friday's bearish close, Monday's modest rally wasn't expected and allowed for some positive closes in all three livestock contracts. Hog prices closed higher on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $0.09 with a weighted average of $43.00 on 10,010 head. December corn was down 1 1/2 cents per bushel, and December soybean meal was up $2.80. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 223.82 points, and the NASDAQ is up 79.83 points.
