CME Globex Recap: Early Thursday, Dow Jones futures are trading slightly higher, in spite of a lower trend for stocks in Europe. New cases of COVID-19 continue to challenge health resources and are at their highest level in the U.S. this week since January. Later Thursday morning, a second estimate of second quarter U.S. GDP will be released along with weekly jobless claims and weekly export sales. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 39.24 at 35,405.50 and the S&P 500 up 9.96 at 4,496.19 as the 10-Year Treasury yield moved up to 1.34%. Early Thursday, September Dow Jones futures are trading up 12 points. Asian markets are mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.06% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.09%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.32%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.69% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.52%. The September euro is down $0.0012 at $1.1764. The September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.14 at 92.97. The September 30-year T-bond is down 5/32nds, while December gold is down $5.10 at $1,785.90 and October crude oil is down $0.70 at $67.66. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was down 0.5%, November soybeans were up 0.5%, January soybean meal was up 0.1% and January soybean oil was up 1.1%. September common wheat on China's Zhengzhou exchange was down 0.0%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading up 0.5%.
