DTN Closing Grain Comments 05/31 13:41 Wheat Plunges on Possible Resumption of Ukraine Shipments; Corn and Soy Follow It seemed like "any port in storm" selling in the grain and soy markets on Tuesday, following Vladimir Putin's comments regarding a willingness to allow Ukraine grain exports to flow freely again. However, no one really knows what he demands in return. At any rate, the comments were enough to make fund managers and other longs lighten up their bullish exposure. Grains and the soy complex fell hard in unison. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: July corn closed down 23 3/4 cents per bushel and December corn was down 18 1/2 cents. July soybeans closed down 49 cents and November soybeans were down 34 1/2 cents. July KC wheat closed down 69 3/4 cents, July Chicago wheat was down 70 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was down 51 3/4 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.435 at 101.740. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 44.55 points at 33,168.41. June gold is down $12.10 at $1,839.20, July silver is down $0.51 at $21.59 and July copper is down $0.0185 at $4.2880. July crude oil is down $0.33 at $114.74, July heating oil is up $0.0307, July RBOB is up $0.0092 and July natural gas is down $0.583.
