DTN Closing Livestock Comment 09/01 16:05 Dreary Trade for Livestock Futures Ahead of Long Weekend Heading into Friday's market, the livestock complex isn't expected to do much as traders are partly checked out for the weekend already. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Thursday's livestock market allowed for the cattle contracts to close slightly higher, but the lean hog complex closed lower, and hardly any cash hog trade developed. The Foreign Agricultural Service announced on Aug. 31 that they will be unable to publish weekly export sales data on Thursday, Sept. 1 or Thursday, Sept. 8, but expects to resume regular reporting on Thursday, Sept. 15. Hog prices closed lower on the Daily Direct Afternoon Hog Report, down $5.06 with a weighted average of $99.75 on 4,909 head. December corn is down 12 1/2 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is up $0.20. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 145.99 points.
