DTN Early Word Grains 02/17 05:41 Crop Prices Quietly Mixed Early Friday, Still No CFTC Data March corn is up 1/2 cent, March soybeans are up 3 cents and March KC wheat is down 1 cent. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is up 1/2 cent, March soybeans are up 3 cents and March KC wheat is down 1 cent. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Friday, stock futures in the U.S. are trading lower, headed for a modest loss on the week and holding sideways, below the December high near 35,000 with stocks in Europe and Asia following Thursday's losses in the U.S. Thursday's 6.0% annual gain in the producer price index was another reminder that more rate hikes are likely in store in 2023. The Conference Board's U.S. index of leading indicators is due out at 9 a.m. CST and is the only significant report on Friday's docket. Friday's earnings reports include Deere & Company and U.S. Cellular. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 431.20 at 33,696.85 and the S&P 500 down 57.19 at 4,090.41. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.84%, the highest yield in over a month. Early Friday, March Dow Jones futures are down 181 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.66% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.77%. European markets are also lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.25%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.80% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.67%. The March euro is down $0.0046 at $1.0659. The March U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.55 at 104.35. The March 30-year T-bond is down 24/32nds, while April gold is down $18.40 at $1,833.40 and March crude oil is down $1.14 at $77.35. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up 0.2%, May soybeans were up 0.4%, May soybean meal was up 0.1% and May soybean oil was up 2.0%. April Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.6%.
