Soft white wheat held in a narrow range through the week, supported by a light but steady stream of export interest and limited farm selling. All three classes of wheat show exporter bids flat into April. Weekly Sales...Higher price levels over the past week subdued the pace of export demand, as total U.S. wheat sales came in about 4 mb below the four-week average pace at 7.7 mb. Year-to-date commitments now stand 5% behind a year ago and 18% below the five-year average pace at 607 mb. One of the top sellers was soft white wheat which secured 2.7 mb to put the current year total at 152 mb; 35% ahead of a year ago but 34% behind the average. Hard red spring also recorded 2.7 mb and with 182 mb committed, sets 6% ahead of a year ago and 17% behind average. Hard red winter saw less than a million bushels in new sales, putting the year-to-date total at 166 mb, which is 35% behind a year ago and 11% below average. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent.
