Old crop to new crops spreads also softened, with nearby white wheat bids now within a nickel of the August new crop bids. Crop Progress...Pacific Northwest winter wheat conditions showed the three-state index holding in line with last week at 86% of the 20-year average. Idaho good to excellent climbed 3 points to 28% (which is all in the "good" category), Oregon slipped 4 points to 27% and Washington reported a 2 point gain to 47%. Growing degree days are needed to perk up the crop, and warmer temperatures are expected this week. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed the pace of U.S. wheat shipments returning to a more respectable level last week, coming in at 13.3 mb to put the year-to-date loadings 3% behind a year ago at 656 mb. Hard red winter and spring wheat each registered 4.8 mb for the week and soft white wheat reported 1.9 mb. West coast loading activitity showed The Philippines and Taiwan each taking 1.8 mb of wheat and Japan took on 6.7 mb of corn. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent.
