Basis levels for white wheat are also holding above average for mid-June, while the nearby hard red winter basis weakened 20 cents over the past week and widened premiums to red winter on dark northern spring wheat. Export activity for soft white wheat improved last week with over 5 mb going to the Philippines, Yemen and Taiwan. Crop Progress...A week of extreme heat across the PNW took another bite into winter wheat conditions, as the three-state index slipped 4% to 90% of average. Oregon saw a 12 point drop in good to excellent to 30% and poor to very poor jumped 11% to 44%. Washington saw an 8 point drop in good to excellent to 55%, and Idaho slipped 3% to 52%. Spring wheat ratings saw good to excellent for Washington drop 17% from last week to 38%, while the mostly irrigated spring wheat in Idaho saw a 3 point increase to a 60% good to excellent rating. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent.
