Along with interest from traditional Pacific Rim buyers, the nearly 8 mb in sales included a large Indonesian purchase. Weekly Sales...The sharp retreat in U.S. wheat prices attracted global buyers last week, as USDA reported the best week of export dmeand for the marketing year. Sales of nearly 21 mb placed total commitments at 236 mb, which stands 26% behind a year ago and 30% below the 5-year average pace. Top seller was hard red spring with 8.2 mb, putting commitments at 82 mb which is 9% below a year ago and 17% below average. White wheat booked a total of 7.9 mb and with 47 mb in sales, sets 33% behind a year ago and 34% below average. Soft red winter registered 2.2 mb for the week to put sales at 60 mb; 4% ahead of a year ago and 26% above average. Hard red winter booked 2.6 mb, putting commitments at 44 mb which stands 54% below a year ago and 61% off the five-year average pace. Top Buyers...The Philippines was one of the top buyers last week with 5.9 mb in purchases, followed by Japan with 5.8 mb.
