DTN Closing Grain Comments 08/16 13:38 Soybeans, Soybean Oil Surge; Corn, Wheat Firm on Weather and Ukraine Strikes Soybeans and bean oil led the way higher Wednesday ahead of what could be a troublesome two weeks of hot and mostly dry weather. Corn and wheat rebounded from Tuesday's weak closes. U.S. corn is now more competitive in world markets and rising tensions in the Black Sea provide a potential bullish backdrop to markets. Wheat ended mixed to firmer. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: December corn closed up 6 cents per bushel at 4.82 and March corn was up 6 cents at 4.95 1/2. November soybeans closed up 18 1/4 cents at 13.24 and January soybeans were up 18 1/4 cents at 13.33 3/4. December KC wheat closed up 7 cents at 7.53, September Chicago wheat was down 3/4 cent at 5.98 and September Minneapolis wheat was up 5 1/2 cents at 7.92.
