DTN Closing Grain Comments 08/24 13:51 Soybeans and Soymeal Close with Sharp Gains While Corn and Wheat Sag on a Quiet News Day Soybean meal closed very firm on improving export demand, bringing soybeans along with it. Temperatures for another day are expected to soar to 100 or over in much of the soybean area, likely sending conditions down on Monday, and soymeal export demand is moving higher from already record levels. Soybean oil and corn sagged on falling energy prices and bearish pressure from financial markets, and wheat was lower in all three markets. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: December corn closed down 2 1/4 cents per bushel at $4.88 and March corn was down 3/4 cents at $5.03. November soybeans closed up 11 1/4 cents at $13.72 and January soybeans were up 11 1/4 cents at $13.83 1/2. December KC wheat closed down 1 1/4 cents at 7.63, December Chicago wheat was down 8 cents at 6.32 and December Minneapolis wheat was down 4 1/2 cents at 7.99.
