Even with a roll to December Chicago futures, nearby white wheat basis remained relatively firm with exporters working to cover recent sales. Crop Progress...Spring wheat harvest continued to advance across the Pacific Northwest last week, with another 20% of the crop harvested under extremely warm and dry conditions. Idaho stands at 44% complete, about 20% behind the average pace, while Washington is 12% ahead of average at 78% complete. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a slightly better pace of U.S wheat shipments last week, coming mostly on the shoulders of hard red spring wheat movement. Total shipments of 14.3 mb puts the year-to-date tally at 148 mb, which is 21% behind a year ago. Hard red spring shipped 7.4 mb for the week, soft white registered 2.5 mb and hard red winter was at 1.5 mb. The Philippines and Japan were primary destinations off west coast ports. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
