Nearby white wheat basis to Chicago held firm, with a small donation tender for Yemen this week providing footing. White wheat export bids were flat into November, hard red winter showed a modest carry and dark northern spring was bid flat into January. Crop Progress..Pacific Northwest winter wheat plantings remain slightly behind the average pace, as Idaho is reported 13% planted versus a 5-year average of 21%, Washington is 5% behind average at 41% planted and Oregon stands right in line with average at 12% sown. Planting conditions remain extremely dry but cooler, wetter weather is expected into next week. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed U.S. wheat shipments held in-line with the prior week, coming in at 13.4 mb. Year-to-date loadings now stand 29% behind a year ago at 188 mb. Top shippers were soft white and hard red spring wheat, with each registering 4 mb for the week. Hard red winter recorded 2.3 mb. Indonesia was the big taker off the PNW with nearly 4 mb of white wheat being loaded for that country. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2023 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
